A few things to know about PE: PE Schedule - 2017-2018 Activity Schedule * Make sure to click on the correct grade level tab at the bottom Dress Code - tennis shoes and comfortable clothes to move around; girls should wear shorts under skirts and dresses. The following shoes are NOT good for PE: crocs, flip flops, high heels, boots, sandals. Recently in PE in grades K, 1, and 2 we've been learning about and practicing jumping, hopping, and leaping. The students always enjoy the jump, hop, and leap circuit as well as playing Leaping Lizard. We have been practicing volleyball skills in grades 3, 4, and 5. The students practiced the bump, set, spike, and underhand serve.
Recently in PE.... We have been doing climbing wall and learning about how it helps our bodies. Climbing wall helps our bodies in many ways: builds muscular strength and muscular endurance builds confidence increases focus and concentration increases balance and flexibility builds grip strength In K-2 we worked on climbing up and down the wall as well as traverse (sideways or across). Grades 3-5 are more experienced climbers so we added challenges like moving a ball from a high to low position while climbing. In grades K-2 we learned various hula hoop tricks and practiced bowling skills. In grades 3-5 we have been working on striking skills. We discussed how to strike the ball and how force plays a role in striking. As well, we discussed the importance of agility, being in the ready position, and moving our feet to the ball.
