Fun times in PE!

Image
In grades K-2 we have been learning about moving our bodies in different pathways (winding, zigzag, straight), at different levels (low, medium, high), using different locomotor skills (skipping, galloping, sliding), and in different directions (forward, backward, sideways). The students love traveling through the obstacle course, which combines all the skills and movements we have been discussing. The climbing wall is always a favorite for the students.  We have been discussing how the climbing wall builds strong muscles. In grades 3-5, we have been practicing teamwork and discussing communication and cooperation. The students are playing Gatorball, which is a game where each team has to work together to move the gatorball across the court in order to score a goal.

Fun Times in PE!

Image
Recently in PE..... In K-2 we have been learning about personal space and boundaries.  The students always love playing Spaceship Tag, which helps them practice keeping personal space while moving around the gym. In 3-5 we have been learning about teamwork, communication, and cooperation.  It is important to be able to work well with others and encourage each other while working toward a goal.  The students had a blast working together playing Foam Ball Passover.  Each team had to pass the ball using only their feet and move the ball from one end line to the other.  If the ball is dropped at any time, the team has to go back and start over.

WELCOME BACK

I am excited for the start of a new school year!  It's fun to see familiar faces and I look forward to meeting our new students. 2015-2016 is going to be a great year!  In PE, we learn about the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We always have a great time in PE playing games and learning new skills.    A few things to know about PE: PE Rotation  - Students have PE every other day (i.e. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, etc.) Dress Code  - tennis shoes and comfortable clothes to move around; girls should wear shorts under skirts and dresses. The following shoes are NOT good for PE: crocs, flip flops, high heels, boots, sandals. Health Concerns  - If your child needs to be restricted from participating in any physical activity, please send a note from you or your child's physician in order to be excused. Occassionally children come to PE with a cast on their arm or leg, no note or doct...
