FIELD DAY Volunteers Needed


Field Day is quickly approaching and we need lots of enthusiastic volunteers to help run stations.  Field Day is Wednesday, May 20.  Volunteers should report to the gym at 8am to sign up for a station of your choice.  All stations will be finished by 12 noon.  High school students are welcome to help.  Lunch and class parties will follow, feel free to spend the day.  We look forward to seeing you and your help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Climbing Wall, Striking, and More....

Recently in PE.... We have been doing climbing wall and learning about how it helps our bodies.  Climbing wall helps our bodies in many ways: builds muscular strength and muscular endurance builds confidence increases focus and concentration increases balance and flexibility builds grip strength In K-2 we worked on climbing up and down the wall as well as traverse (sideways or across).  Grades 3-5 are more experienced climbers so we added challenges like moving a ball from a high to low position while climbing. In grades K-2 we learned various hula hoop tricks and practiced bowling skills. In grades 3-5 we have been working on striking skills. We discussed how to strike the ball and how force plays a role in striking. As well, we discussed the importance of agility, being in the ready position, and moving our feet to the ball. I am excited for the start of a new school year!  It's fun to see familiar faces and I look forward to meeting our new students. 2017-2018 is going to be a great year!  In PE, we learn about the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We always have a great time in PE playing games and learning new skills.    A few things to know about PE: PE Schedule  - 2017-2018 Activity Schedule              * Make sure to click on the correct grade level tab at the bottom Dress Code  - tennis shoes and comfortable clothes to move around; girls should wear shorts under skirts and dresses.
