Scooter Scatter!

Scooter Scatter is always a blast!  Students are in pairs and have a home base spot.  One student is on the scooter and tries to kick the big ball while not falling off.  The other student stands on the home base spot and helps keep the balls in bounds.  Students earn points each time they kick a ball and lose points when they fall off their scooter.  It's a CRAZY but really fun game! :)

Gymnastics & Climbing Wall

Recently in PE.... We have been learning about and practicing gymnastics skills. Gymnasts have strong muscles and a strong core. It is important to keep our muscles tight when doing gymnastic skills. We discussed and practiced tumbling (rolls on mats) and balancing skills in grades K-5. 1st graders doing Gymnastics stations 4th & 5th graders doing Gymnastics stations We've also been working on our climbing wall skills this week. Climbing wall helps build strong muscles, improves balance and flexibility, and increases self-confidence.

WELCOME BACK!

I am excited for the start of a new school year!  It's fun to see familiar faces and I look forward to meeting our new students. 2017-2018 is going to be a great year!  In PE, we learn about the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We always have a great time in PE playing games and learning new skills.    A few things to know about PE: PE Schedule  - 2017-2018 Activity Schedule              * Make sure to click on the correct grade level tab at the bottom Dress Code  - tennis shoes and comfortable clothes to move around; girls should wear shorts under skirts and dresses. Climbing Wall, Striking, and More....

Recently in PE.... We have been doing climbing wall and learning about how it helps our bodies.  Climbing wall helps our bodies in many ways: builds muscular strength and muscular endurance builds confidence increases focus and concentration increases balance and flexibility builds grip strength In K-2 we worked on climbing up and down the wall as well as traverse (sideways or across).  Grades 3-5 are more experienced climbers so we added challenges like moving a ball from a high to low position while climbing. In grades K-2 we learned various hula hoop tricks and practiced bowling skills. In grades 3-5 we have been working on striking skills. We discussed how to strike the ball and how force plays a role in striking. As well, we discussed the importance of agility, being in the ready position, and moving our feet to the ball. The students enjoy playing foursquare and wall ball.                                     Another fun game
